Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.

And when the virgins were gathered together the second time, then Mordecai sat in the king’s gate.

In those days, while Mordecai sat in the king’s gate, two of the king’s officers, Bigthan and Teresh, of those who kept the door, were angry, and sought to lay hands on the king Ahasuerus.

And all the king’s servants, that were in the king’s gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai did not bow, nor did him reverence.

When righteous men rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.

And all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, even Nergal-sharezer, Samgar-nebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergal-sharezer, Rab-mag, with all the rest of the princes of the king of Babylon.

As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

To whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave to Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego.

Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:

Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was sixty cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.

And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts to them, and the king should have no loss.

Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish justice in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.
