Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?

And he said, Why will you go to him today? it is neither new moon, nor sabbath. And she said, It shall be well.

Speak also to the children of Israel, saying, Truly my sabbaths you shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that you may know that I am the LORD that sanctifies you.

A false balance is an abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.

A just weight and balance are the LORD’S: all the weights of the bag are his work.

Varying weights are an abomination to the LORD; and a false balance is not good.

Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination to me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot bear; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.

If you turn away your foot from the sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honorable; and shall honor him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words:

He is a merchant, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loves to oppress.

And Ephraim said, Yet I have become rich, I have found wealth for myself: in all my labors they shall find no iniquity in me that would be sin.

Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall you have: I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt.

And I said, What is it? And he said, This is an ephah that goes forth. He said moreover, This is their likeness through all the earth.

And he said, This is wickedness. And he pushed her into the midst of the ephah; and he threw the weight of lead down upon its mouth.

You said also, Behold, what a weariness it is! and you have sniffed at it, says the LORD of hosts; and you brought that which was torn, and the lame, and the sick; thus you brought an offering: should I accept this from your hand? says the LORD.

Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, you shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.

Let no one therefore judge you in food, or in drink, or with respect to a holy day, or the new moon, or the sabbath days:

And David said to Jonathan, Behold, tomorrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at mealtime: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field until the third day at evening.
