And also I have withheld the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one place was rained upon, and the place upon which it did not rain withered.

And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days:

They did not see one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.

And I will separate in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; so that you may know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth.

Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail.

And the LORD shall separate between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt: and there shall nothing die of all that is the children’s of Israel.

And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor dug; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.

Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? are you not he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait for you: for you have made all these things.

And their nobles have sent their little ones to the waters: they came to the pits, and found no water; they returned with their vessels empty; they were ashamed and disappointed, and covered their heads.

Because the ground is cracked, for there was no rain in the earth, the plowmen were ashamed, they covered their heads.

Therefore the showers have been withheld, and there has been no latter rain; and you had a whore’s forehead, you refused to be ashamed.

Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he has given you the former rain in proper measure, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

And it shall be, that whoever will not come up of all the families of the earth to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.

Do you not say, There are yet four months, and then comes harvest? Behold, I say to you, Lift up your eyes, and look at the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

For who makes you to differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you received it, why do you glorify yourself, as if you had not received it?

And then the LORD’S anger be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land does not yield her fruit; and lest you perish quickly off of the good land which the LORD gives you.

Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it did not rain on the earth for a period of three years and six months.

These have power to shut heaven, so that it does not rain in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire.
