And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David waited still at Jerusalem.

And Joab fought against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and took the royal city.

And he brought forth the people that were therein, and put them to work with saws, and harrows of iron, and axes of iron, and made them pass through the brick kiln: and thus did he to all the cities of the children of Ammon. So David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.

And it came to pass, that after the year was expired, at the time that kings go out to battle, Joab led forth the power of the army, and wasted the country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem. And Joab struck Rabbah, and destroyed it.

He says among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smells the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.

So pursue them with your tempest, and make them afraid with your storm.

You shall be visited by the LORD of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire.

And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall show the downward stroke of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.

For every battle of the warrior is with a tumult, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.

Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD has gone forth in fury, even a terrible whirlwind: it shall fall heavily upon the head of the wicked.

Therefore, behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard in Rabbah of the Ammonites; and it shall be a desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire: then shall Israel be heir to those who were his heirs, says the LORD.

Appoint a way, that the sword may come to Rabbath of the Ammonites, and to Judah in Jerusalem the defense.

At his right hand was the divination for Jerusalem, to appoint captains, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with shouting, to appoint battering rams against the gates, to build up a mound, and to build a fort.

And you, profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day is come, when iniquity shall have an end,

And I will make Rabbah a stable for camels, and the Ammonites a place for flocks to lie down: and you shall know that I am the LORD.

Behold, therefore I will stretch out my hand upon you, and will deliver you as a spoil to the heathen; and I will cut you off from the people, and I will cause you to perish out of the countries: I will destroy you; and you shall know that I am the LORD.

And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth: and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet:

But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not. Thus the land was desolate behind them, so that no man passed through nor returned: for they made the pleasant land desolate.

For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, according to the cubit of a man.
