Therefore, fellow believers, choose from among you seven men of honest reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

Moreover you shall provide out of all the people able men, those who fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:

For his God instructs him to discretion, and teaches him.

And for a spirit of judgment to him that sits in judgment, and for strength to those who turn back the battle to the gate.

But do not be called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and you are all brothers.

Then this saying went out among the believers, that that disciple would not die: yet Jesus did not say to him, He shall not die; but, If I choose that he remains till I come, what is that to you?

And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names altogether was about a hundred and twenty,)

Therefore of these men who have associated with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that fears God, and of good reputation among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house, and to hear words from you.

And they wrote letters by them as follows; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting to the believers which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia:

Who was well reported of by the believers that were at Lystra and Iconium.

And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report from all the Jews who dwelt there,

Where we found believers, and were requested to stay with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome.

Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples to them, and said, It is not right that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte from Antioch:

Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

Which when the believers knew, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him away to Tarsus.

For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

And when I come, whomever you shall approve by your letters, them will I send to bring your generous gift to Jerusalem.

And do not be drunk with wine, which leads to immorality; but be filled with the Spirit;

Take men who are wise, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.

Well reported of for good works; if she has brought up children, if she has lodged strangers, if she has washed the saints’ feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently pursued every good work.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Demetrius has a good report from all men, and from the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and you know that our record is true.
