And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and those who were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.

But I say to you, That whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whoever shall say to his brother, Good for nothing, shall be in danger of the council: but whoever shall say, You fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,

Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered you to me: what have you done?

And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him; and he sat down, and taught them.

For you shall be his witness to all men of what you have seen and heard.

As also the high priest bears me witness, and all the order of the elders: from whom also I received letters to the Jewish brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring those who were there bound to Jerusalem, to be punished.

Then the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with anger,

And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,

Then there stood up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, held in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles outside for a little while;

And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
