Therefore if Demetrius, and the craftsmen which are with him, have a matter against any man, the courts are open, and there are officials: let them bring charges against one another.

Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

Who was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.

But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O you Jews, it would only be fitting for me to bear with you:

For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, who made silver shrines for Diana, brought no small gain to the craftsmen;

But if you desire anything concerning other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly.

Do any of you dare, having a matter against another, to go to court before the unjust, and not before the saints?

If there arises a matter too hard for you in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, being matters of controversy within your gates: then shall you arise, and go up into the place which the LORD your God shall choose;
