And when he came out, he could not speak to them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: for he made signs to them, and remained speechless.

But he, beckoning to them with his hand to hold their peace, declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go tell these things to James, and to the believers. And he departed, and went into another place.

Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and you that fear God, give audience.

And when he had given him permission, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with his hand to the people. And when there was a great silence, he spoke to them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,

Then Paul, after the governor had beckoned to him to speak, answered, Seeing that I know that you have been for many years a judge over this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself:

Even as it is fitting for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; seeing that both in my bonds, and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you are all sharers of my grace.

Of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered to Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.
