And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O you Jews, it would only be fitting for me to bear with you:

And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

He answered him, and said, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I endure you? Bring him to me.

And said, O you full of all subtlety and all mischief, you child of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

And for about forty years he endured their conduct in the wilderness.

But Paul said, I am a man who am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no lowly city: and, I plead with you, permit me to speak to the people.

For if I am an offender, or have committed anything worthy of death, I do not refuse to die: but if there are none of these things of which these accuse me, no man may deliver me to them. I appeal to Caesar.

Of whom I have no certain thing to write to my lord. Therefore I have brought him out before you, and especially before you, O king Agrippa, that, after examination, I might have something to write.

For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Do you desire then not to fear the authority? Do what is good, and you shall have praise from the same:

If only you could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed do bear with me.

For if he who comes preaches another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if you receive another spirit, which you have not received, or another gospel, which you have not accepted, you might well put up with it.

Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on those who have gone astray; because he himself also is subject to weakness.
