But the Jews who did not believe, moved with envy, took to them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city in an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.

Do you think that the Scripture says in vain, The spirit that dwells in us is inclined to envy?

And they gave him seventy pieces of silver out of the house of Baal-berith, with which Abimelech hired vain and worthless persons, which followed him.
