I have written to him the great things of my law, but they were counted as a strange thing.

And they kept that saying among themselves, questioning with one another what the rising from the dead should mean.

Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is a hard saying; who can hear it?

Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate,

And they took him, and brought him to Areopagus, saying, May we know what is this new doctrine of which you speak?

(For all the Athenians and foreigners which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.)

And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying to one another, What does this mean?

For the preaching of the cross is to those who perish foolishness; but to us who are saved it is the power of God.

But we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block, and to the Greeks foolishness;

But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be explained, seeing you are dull of hearing.

In which they think it strange that you do not run with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
