Then he came to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a certain woman, who was a Jewess, and believed; but his father was a Greek:
For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy descendents have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers has been chief in this trespass.
And it came to pass in Iconium, that they both went together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.
For this reason have I sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which are in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church.

When I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice; and I am persuaded in you also.
