And the letters were sent by messengers into all the king’s provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a possession.

And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,

There are many plans in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

Do not boast about tomorrow; for you do not know what a day may bring forth.

Who is he that says, and it comes to pass, when the Lord does not command it?

Then shall they deliver you up to be persecuted, and shall kill you: and you shall be hated by all nations for my name’s sake.

But they said, Not on the feast day, so that there will not be an uproar among the people.

After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by subtlety, and put him to death.

But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake.

And he said to him, Lord, I am ready to go with you, both into prison, and to death.

Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.

Truly, truly, I say to you, When you were young, you clothed yourself, and walked where you wanted to: but when you shall be old, you shall stretch out your hands, and another shall clothe you, and take you where you do not want to go.

And because he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing by the church to God for him.

To do whatever your hand and your counsel determined beforehand to be done.

And they laid hands on them, and put them under guard until the next day: for it was now evening.

And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.

As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering into every house, and dragging away men and women committed them to prison.
