And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, you have heard from me.

Or whether it was two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud stayed upon the tabernacle, remaining on it, the children of Israel remained in their tents, and journeyed not: but when it was taken up, they journeyed.

For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaks in you.

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?

For the Holy Spirit shall teach you in the same hour what you ought to say.

And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but stay in the city of Jerusalem, until you are clothed with power from on high.

And I will request of the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

But when the Comforter comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceeds from the Father, he shall testify of me:

And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit:

(But this spoke he of the Spirit, which those who believe in him would receive: for the Holy Spirit was not yet given; because Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has shed forth this, which you now see and hear.
