And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with her open country, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Mahanaim with her open country,

And the name of Saul’s wife was Ahinoam, the daughter of Ahimaaz: and the name of the captain of his army was Abner, the son of Ner, Saul’s uncle.

And when Saul saw David go forth against the Philistine, he said to Abner, the captain of the army, Abner, whose son is this youth? And Abner said, As your soul lives, O king, I cannot tell.

And David cried out to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, Do you not answer, Abner? Then Abner answered and said, Who are you that cries out to the king?
