And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray you, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.
But if you return to the city, and say to Absalom, I will be your servant, O king; as I have been your father’s servant until now, so will I now also be your servant: then may you defeat for me the counsel of Ahithophel.
And Ahithophel said to Absalom, Go in unto your father’s concubines, which he has left to keep the house; and all Israel shall hear that you are abhorred by your father: then shall the hands of all that are with you be strong.
And when Hushai had come to Absalom, Absalom spoke to him, saying, Ahithophel has spoken in this manner: shall we do according to his saying? if not; speak.
