And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this your kindness to your friend? why did you not go with your friend?

And Hushai said to Absalom, Nay; but whom the LORD, and this people, and all the men of Israel, choose, his will I be, and with him will I remain.

And it came to pass, when he had come to Jerusalem to meet the king, that the king said to him, Why did you not go with me, Mephi-bosheth?

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

A man that has friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.

Do you thus requite the LORD, O foolish people and unwise? is not he your father that has bought you? has he not made you, and established you?
