And it came to pass about three months later, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar your daughter in law has played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.

And there came a traveler to the rich man, and he would not take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that had come to him; but took the poor man’s lamb, and dressed it for the man that had come to him.

And the king said to the woman, Go to your house, and I will give direction concerning you.

But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, You know not what manner of spirit you are of.

Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are that judge: for in judging another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge do the same things.

For, as the LORD lives, which saves Israel, though it be in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die. But there was not a man among all the people that answered him.

For as long as the son of Jesse lives upon the ground, you shall not be established, nor your kingdom. Therefore now send and fetch him to me, for he shall surely die.

This thing is not good that you have done. As the LORD lives, you are worthy to die, because you have not kept your master, the LORD’S anointed. And now see where the king’s spear is, and the jar of water that was at his pillow.
