There is none greater in this house than I; neither has he kept back any thing from me but you, because you are his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
And David’s heart struck him after he had numbered the people. And David said to the LORD, I have sinned greatly in what I have done: and now, I plead with you, O LORD, take away the iniquity of your servant; for I have done very foolishly.

Behold, instead of peace I had great bitterness: but you have in love for my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for you have put all my sins behind your back.
You have bought me no sweet cane with money, neither have you filled me with the fat of your sacrifices: but you have burdened me with your sins, you have wearied me with your iniquities.
And the man that commits adultery with another man’s wife, even he that commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

Then he said, I have sinned: yet honor me now, I pray you, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and come back with me, that I may worship the LORD your God.
