Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay your debt, and you and your children live off the rest.

And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an army surrounded the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, Alas, my master! what shall we do?

So he went with them. And when they came to the Jordan, they cut down wood.

And the man of God said, Where did it fall? And he showed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and threw it in there; and the iron floated.

The wicked borrows, and does not pay back: but the righteous shows mercy, and gives.

If the iron be blunt, and he does not sharpen the edge, then must he put forth more strength: but wisdom is profitable to guide.

And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.

Standing afar off for fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour has your judgment come.

And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!

And they threw dust on their heads, and cried out, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, in which all were made rich who had ships in the sea because of her magnificence! For in one hour is she made desolate.
