And he took away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valor, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and smiths: none remained, except the poorest sort of the people of the land.

But the captain of the guard left of the poor of the land to be vinedressers and farmers.

So all Israel were reckoned by genealogies; and, behold, they were written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah, who were taken away to Babylon for their transgression.

Now these are the children of the province that went up out of the captivity, of those which had been taken away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had taken away to Babylon, and came back to Jerusalem and Judah, every one to his city;

That Hanani, one of my kindred, came, he and certain men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.

Who had been taken away from Jerusalem with the captives which had been taken away with Jeconiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had taken away.

The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,

Which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon did not take, when he took away Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah captive from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem;

And I will bring back to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah, that went into Babylon, says the LORD: for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.

(After Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the carpenters, and the smiths, had departed from Jerusalem;)

But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left some of the poor of the people, who had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.

Now when all the captains of the forces which were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed to him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of those who were not taken away captive to Babylon;

But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left certain of the poor of the land as vinedressers and as farmers.

This is the people whom Nebuchadnezzar took away captive: in the seventh year three thousand and twenty three Jews:

That the kingdom might be lowly, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping of his covenant it might stand.

And say, Thus says the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, long winged, full of feathers, which had various colors, came to Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar:

And Josiah begot Jechoniah and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:

And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechoniah begot Shealtiel; and Shealtiel begot Zerubbabel;

So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon to Christ are fourteen generations.

The LORD shall bring you, and your king which you shall set over you, to a nation which neither you nor your fathers have known; and there shall you serve other gods, wood and stone.

Now there was no blacksmith found throughout all the land of Israel: for the Philistines said, So that the Hebrews do not make for themselves swords or spears:
