Nevertheless for David’s sake did the LORD his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem:

And I will add to your days fifteen years; and I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for my own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.

Yet the LORD would not destroy Judah for David his servant’s sake, as he promised him to give him always a light, and to his children.

As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it.

And I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city.

I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and will not remember your sins.

For my own sake, even for my own sake, will I do it: for how could my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory to another.

For my name’s sake will I defer my anger, and for my praise will I restrain for you, so that I do not cut you off.

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from this time forwards even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.

Then will I cast away the children of Jacob, and David my servant, so that I will not take any of his descendents to be rulers over the children of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.

Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord GOD; I do not do this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for my holy name’s sake, which you have profaned among the heathen, to which you went.

But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by the LORD their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen.

And I will encamp around my house because of the army, because of him who passes by, and because of him who returns: and no oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now have I seen with my eyes.

Which is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of his glory.

To the praise of the glory of his grace, in which he has made us accepted in the beloved.

Were it not that I feared the anger of the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave themselves improperly, and lest they should say, Our hand is high, and the LORD has not done all this.
