And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said to them, Go, inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover from this disease.

But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say to them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that you go to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron?

And they said to him, There came a man up to meet us, and said to us, Go, turn back to the king that sent you, and say to him, Thus says the LORD, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that you send to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron? therefore you shall not come down from that bed on which you are gone up, but shall surely die.

And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made themselves molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.

Is not destruction to the wicked? and a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity?

My beloved is like a roe or a young stag: behold, he stands behind our wall, he looks forth at the windows, showing himself through the lattice.

And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst of it; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek the idols, and the charmers, and those who have familiar spirits, and the wizards.

Therefore they sent the ark of God to Ekron. And it came to pass, as the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, They have brought around the ark of the God of Israel to us, to kill us and our people.
