And you are puffed up, and have not instead mourned, that he who has done this deed might be taken away from among you.

As also you have acknowledged us in part, that we are your rejoicing, even as you also are ours in the day of the Lord Jesus.

Who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, by the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

For to this end also did I write, that I might know your trustworthiness, whether you are obedient in all things.

For in this house we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our house which is from heaven:

Nevertheless God, who comforts those who are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus;

For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same letter has made you sorry, though it was but for a season.

But thanks be to God, who put the same earnest care into the heart of Titus for you.

According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing shall I be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in the spirit, rejoicing and beholding your orderliness, and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.

But now when Timothy came from you to us, and brought us good news of your faith and love, and that you have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:

For now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord.

Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it did not rain on the earth for a period of three years and six months.

I rejoiced greatly that I found some of your children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

Beloved, when I applied myself to write to you of the common salvation, I felt it necessary to write to you and urge you that you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered to the saints.
