Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoics, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? Others, He seems to be a presenter of strange gods: because he preached to them Jesus, and the resurrection.
Moreover you see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away many people, saying that they are no gods, which are made with hands:
Of whom I have no certain thing to write to my lord. Therefore I have brought him out before you, and especially before you, O king Agrippa, that, after examination, I might have something to write.
Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about to Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.
For I think that God has set forth us the apostles last, as if appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle to the world, and to angels, and to men.
But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.
