It is enough for the disciple that he be like his master, and the servant like his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call those of his household?

And they sent out to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that you are true, and teach the way of God in truth, neither do you care for any man: for you do not regard the person of men.

Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.

And when they had come, they said to him, Master, we know that you are true, and care for no man: for you do not regard the person of men, but teach the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?

And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, No; but he deceives the people.

And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that fears God, and of good reputation among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house, and to hear words from you.

And they came and pleaded with them, and brought them out, and requested them to depart out of the city.

And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report from all the Jews who dwelt there,

For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:

But we desire to hear from you what you think: for concerning this sect, we know that everywhere it is spoken against.

So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way to punish them, because of the people: for everyone glorified God for that which was done.

And of the rest no one dared join himself to them: but the people praised them.

Therefore, fellow believers, choose from among you seven men of honest reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

And not rather, (as we are slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose condemnation is just.

But as God is true, our word toward you was not yes and no.

I speak concerning reproach, as though we had been weak. However wherever any is bold, (I speak foolishly,) I am bold also.

But granting that I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile.

But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:

Moreover he must have a good report from those who are outside, so that he does not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

For this is why we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.

Let us go out therefore to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.

If you are insulted for the name of Christ, happy are you; for the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you: by them he is evil spoken of, but by you he is glorified.

Demetrius has a good report from all men, and from the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and you know that our record is true.

Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them come and worship before your feet, and know that I have loved you.
