Many times have they afflicted me from my youth: yet they have not prevailed against me.

The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.

In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runs into it, and is safe.

But those who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no food; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:

I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

There has no temptation overtaken you but such as is common to mankind: but God is faithful, who will not permit you to be tempted more than you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then I am strong.

You are not limited within us, but you are limited in your own affections.

But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,

For, when we came into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; outside were conflicts, inside were fears.

I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.

And Samuel said to Saul, Why have you disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am greatly distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answers me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called you, that you may make known to me what I shall do.

And David was greatly distressed; for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

Then said Saul to his armor bearer, Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it; lest these uncircumcised men come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armor bearer would not; for he was greatly afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.
