Then the disciples, everyone according to his ability, determined to send relief to the believers who dwelt in Judea:

When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain others of them, should go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders about this question.

And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.

For I determined not to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

What do you desire? Shall I come to you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?

For I truly, as absent in body but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that has so done this deed,

Moreover I call God as a witness to my soul, that to spare you I did not come as yet to Corinth.

Therefore I write these things being absent, so that being present I need not use severity, according to the authority which the Lord has given me for edification, and not for destruction.

For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you with many tears; not that you should be grieved, but that you might know the love which I have more abundantly for you.

When I shall send Artemas to you, or Tychicus, be prompt to come to me to Nicopolis: for I have determined to winter there.
