But will God indeed really dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain you; how much less this house which I have built!
But who is able to build him a house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him a house, except only so that we may burn sacrifice before him?
Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you in this manner, neither believe him: for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of my hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of my hand?
Have respect therefore to the prayer of your servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hear and grant the cry and the prayer which your servant prays before you:
You have ascended on high, you have led captivity captive: you have received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.
For thus says the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also who is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Thus says the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that you would build for me? and where is the place of my rest?
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him?
I knew a man in Christ more than fourteen years ago (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knows); such a one was caught up to the third heaven.
