And the LORD sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valor, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he had come into the house of his god, those who came forth from his own body slew him there with the sword.

And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD was sorry for the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: hold back now your hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshing place of Araunah the Jebusite.

Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, That which you have prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard.

And for this reason Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried out to heaven.

Thus the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side.

He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who has hardened himself against him, and has prospered?

His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon he himself shall his crown flourish.

Great deliverance he gives to his king; and shows mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his descendents for evermore.

My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face has covered me,

He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.

The strong-hearted are plundered, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have used their hands.

At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.

You, even you, are to be feared: and who may stand in your sight when once you are angry?

When pride comes, then comes shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

For he says, Are not my princes altogether kings?

That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart off from them, and his burden depart off from their shoulders.

How then will you turn away the face of one captain from the least of my master’s servants, and put your trust in Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?

Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, Because you have prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria:

I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to sculptured images.

Inquire, I pray you, of the LORD for us; for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon makes war against us; perhaps the LORD will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go away from us.

Then Nebuchadnezzar spoke, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel, and delivered his servants who trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god except their own God.

My God has sent his angel, and has shut the lions’ mouths, that they have not hurt me: seeing that before him innocence was found in me; and also before you, O king, have I done no hurt.

And immediately the angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give God the glory: and he was eaten by worms, and gave up the ghost.
