Now do not be stiff-necked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to the LORD, and enter into his sanctuary, which he has sanctified for ever: and serve the LORD your God, that the fierceness of his anger may turn away from you.

Nevertheless the LORD turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, with which his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him with.

And all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves to Solomon the king.

Now hear me therefore, and deliver back the captives, which you have taken captive of your people: for the fierce anger of the LORD is upon you.

And said to them, You shall not bring in the captives here: for whereas we have offended against the LORD already, you intend to add more to our sins and to our trespass: for our trespass is great, and there is fierce anger against Israel.

Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that his fierce anger may turn away from us.

And he also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God: but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart from turning to the LORD God of Israel.

Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel to build a house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be a ruler over my people Israel:

But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.

For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.

Let now our rulers from all the congregation stand, and let all those who have taken foreign wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce anger of our God for this matter be turned from us.

And they solemnly pledged that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their trespass.

To see your power and your glory, as I have seen you in the sanctuary.

They have seen you on the way, O God; even the way of my God, my King, in the sanctuary.

Princes shall come out of Egypt; Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands to God.

Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I understood their end.

He sent forth upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending angels of destruction among them.

And the LORD said to Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiff-necked people:

Shout against her round about: she has surrendered: her foundations have fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the LORD: take vengeance upon her; as she has done, do unto her.

Then said Jesus to him, Be gone, Satan: for it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.

If anyone serves me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if anyone serves me, him will my Father honor.

But to Israel he says, All day long I have stretched out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.

But now being made free from sin, and having become servants to God, you have your fruit in holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stiff-necked.

You shall fear the LORD your God, and serve him, and shall swear by his name.

You shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he has commanded you.

And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he who sits on the throne shall dwell among them.
