And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said to him, Are you made one of the king’s counselors? cease; why should you be struck? Then the prophet ceased, and said, I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this, and have not listened to my counsel.

So the king did not listen to the people: for it was caused by God, that the LORD might perform his word, which he spoke by the hand of Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

Then Asa was angry with the seer, and put him in a prison house; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. And Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time.

Then the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and bring him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;

Then Amaziah king of Judah took counsel, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us see one another in the face.

And Pharaoh said unto him, Depart from me, look out for yourself, see my face no more; for in that day that you see my face you shall die.

And indeed for this very reason have I raised you up, to show in you my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.

Because they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

They would have none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

Your own wickedness shall correct you, and your backsliding shall reprove you: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that you have forsaken the LORD your God, and that my fear is not in you, says the Lord GOD of hosts.

For I have not sent them, says the LORD, yet they prophesy a lie in my name; that I might drive you out, and that you might perish, you, and the prophets that prophesy to you.

The LORD has made you priest in the place of Jehoiada the priest, that you should be officers in the house of the LORD, for every man that is mad, and makes himself a prophet, that you should put him in prison, and in the stocks.

So Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, and all the people, did not obey the voice of the LORD, to dwell in the land of Judah.

Then whoever hears the sound of the trumpet, and does not take warning; if the sword comes, and takes him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.

And when he had come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority do you do these things? And who gave you this authority?

To do whatever your hand and your counsel determined beforehand to be done.

What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his own will:

But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD your God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into your hand, as appears this day.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound teaching; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

And those who dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts to one another; because these two prophets tormented those who dwelt on the earth.

If one man sins against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sins against the LORD, who shall appeal for him? Nevertheless they did not listen to the voice of their father, because the LORD intended to slay them.
