For the Levites left their lands and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons had discharged them from performing the priest’s service unto the LORD:
After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places: whoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.
Have you not cast out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made for yourselves priests after the manner of the nations of other lands? so that whoever comes to consecrate himself with a young bullock and seven rams, the same may be a priest of those who are no gods.
And the cities which you shall give shall be of the possession of the children of Israel: from those who have many you shall give many; but from those who have few you shall give few: every one shall give of his cities to the Levites according to his inheritance which he inherits.
