I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor.

O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongs; O God, to whom vengeance belongs, show yourself.

If you see the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, do not marvel at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regards it; and there is one higher than they.

For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for justice, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.

If you oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt:

Beware every one of his neighbor, and do not trust in any brother: for every brother will completely drive you away, and every neighbor will walk with slanders.

Behold, therefore I have struck my hand at your dishonest gain which you have made, and at your blood which has been in the midst of you.

You shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another.

You shall not cheat your neighbor, neither rob him: the wages of him that is hired shall not remain with you all night until the morning.

And if you sell anything to your neighbor, or buy anything from your neighbor’s hand, you shall not oppress one another:

You shall not therefore oppress one another; but you shall fear your God: for I am the LORD your God.

And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.

Woe to her who is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city!

The just LORD is in the midst of her; he will not do iniquity: every morning he brings his judgment to light, he never fails; but the unjust knows no shame.

And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those who oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and who turn aside the stranger from his right, and do not fear me, says the LORD of hosts.

You know the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.

But I will forewarn you whom you shall fear: Fear him, who after he has killed has power to throw into hell; yea, I say to you, Fear him.

For I have five brothers; that he may testify to them, so that they do not also come into this place of torment.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Dearly beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord.

For he is the servant of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain: for he is the servant of God, an avenger to execute wrath upon him who does evil.

For behold this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly way, what earnestness it worked in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what correction of wrongs! In all things you have shown yourselves to be clear in this matter.

Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of which I tell you in advance, as I have also told you in time past, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you henceforth do not walk as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have something to give to him that is needy.

Let no one deceive you with empty words: for because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the children of disobedience.

If a man be found stealing any of his people of the children of Israel, and makes merchandise of him, or sells him; then that thief shall die; and you shall put evil away from among you.

To me belong vengeance, and recompense; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.

As you know how we exhorted and comforted and instructed every one of you, as a father does his children,

In flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Marriage is honorable for all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that you are mindful of him? Or the son of man, that you visit him?

But you have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?

Behold, the wages of the laborers who have reaped your fields, which are by you kept back by fraud, cry out: and the cries of those who have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of Hosts.
