He who secretly slanders his neighbor, him will I cut off: him that has a high look and a proud heart will I not allow.

When their judges are overthrown in stony places, they shall hear my words; for they are sweet.

A wayward man sows strife: and a whisperer separates best friends.

A wicked doer gives heed to false lips; and a liar gives ear to a corrupt tongue.

The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the being.

And David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, What have I done? what is my iniquity? and what is my sin before your father, that he seeks my life?

And as soon as the lad was gone, David arose out of a place toward the south, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times: and they kissed one another, and wept one with another, until David could not bear it.

Behold, this day your eyes have seen how the LORD had delivered you today into my hand in the cave: and some told me to kill you: but my eye spared you; and I said, I will not put forth my hand against my lord; for he is the LORD’S anointed.

David also arose afterward, and went out of the cave, and cried out after Saul, saying, My lord the king. And when Saul looked behind him, David stooped with his face to the earth, and bowed himself.

And he said, Why does my lord thus pursue after his servant? for what have I done? or what evil is in my hand?

Now therefore, I pray you, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If the LORD has stirred you up against me, let him accept an offering: but if they be the children of men, cursed be they before the LORD; for they have driven me out this day from abiding in the inheritance of the LORD, saying, Go, serve other gods.
