He arose, and struck the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand stuck to the sword: and the LORD accomplished a great victory that day; and the people only returned after him to plunder.

But know for certain that if you put me to death, you shall surely bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof: for of a truth the LORD has sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears.

When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but that rather a tumult was arising, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see to it yourselves.

Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? See to that yourself.

But this takes place, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

But none of these things move me, neither do I count my life dear to myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry which I have received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Because for the work of Christ he was near to death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.

How shall we escape, if we neglect so great a salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard him;

And when I saw that you did not deliver me, I put my life in my hands, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and the LORD delivered them into my hand: why then are you come up to me this day, to fight against me?

(For my father fought for you, and greatly risked his life, and delivered you out of the hand of Midian:

And Saul said, There shall not a man be put to death this day: for today the LORD has worked salvation in Israel.

And the people said to Saul, Shall Jonathan die, who has worked this great salvation in Israel? God forbid: as the LORD lives, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he has worked with God this day. So the people rescued Jonathan, that he did not die.

And Saul heeded the voice of Jonathan: and Saul swore, As the LORD lives, he shall not be slain.

And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said unto him, Why shall he be slain? what has he done?

Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithful among all your servants as David, who is the king’s son in law, and goes at your bidding, and is honorable in your house?

And the woman came to Saul, and saw that he was greatly troubled, and said to him, Behold, your handmaid has obeyed your voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have heard and consented to your words which you spoke to me.
