But the LORD said to Samuel, Look not on his appearance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in behalf of those whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein you have done foolishly: therefore from this time on you shall have wars.

Then hear thou from heaven your dwelling place, and forgive, and give to every man according to all his ways, whose heart you know; (for you only know the hearts of the children of men:)

Have you eyes of flesh? or do you see as man sees?

Look to the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than you.

You know my sitting down and my rising up, you understand my thought afar off.

Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God examines the hearts and thoughts.

Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?

All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weighs the spirits.

If you say, Behold, we knew it not; does not he that examines the heart consider it? and he that keeps your soul, does he not know it? and shall he not return to every man according to his works?

Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.

But, O LORD of hosts, who judges righteously, who examines the thoughts and the heart, let me see your vengeance on them: for unto you have I revealed my cause.

I the LORD search the heart, I examine the thoughts, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

But, O LORD of hosts, who examines the righteous, and sees the thoughts and the heart, let me see your vengeance on them: for unto you have I opened my cause.

And he said to them, You are those who justify yourselves before men; but God knows your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

Do not judge according to the appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.

You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one.

And they prayed, and said, You, Lord, who know the hearts of all men, show which of these two you have chosen,

For his letters, they say, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.

Do you look on things according to the outward appearance? If anyone trusts to himself that he is Christ’s, let him think this again to himself, that, as he is Christ’s, even so are we Christ’s.

Neither is there any creature that is not clearly visible in his sight: but all things are naked and opened to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

To whom coming, as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, and precious,

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great value.

And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he who searches minds and hearts: and I will give to every one of you according to your works.

Talk no more so exceedingly proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.

And he had a son, whose name was Saul, a choice young man, and attractive: and there was not among the children of Israel a more attractive person than he: from his shoulders and upward he was taller than any of the people.
