Is it not wheat harvest today? I will call unto the LORD, and he shall send thunder and rain; that you may perceive and see that your wickedness is great, which you have done in the sight of the LORD, in asking for a king.

Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among those who call upon his name; they called upon the LORD, and he answered them.

And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said to the people, You have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up to the LORD; perhaps I shall make an atonement for your sin.

As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honor is not suitable for a fool.

Then said the LORD to me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go away.

Then spoke Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand still upon Gibeon; and you, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.

Now therefore behold the king whom you have chosen, and whom you have desired! and, behold, the LORD has set a king over you.

And all the people said to Samuel, Pray for your servants unto the LORD your God, that we die not: for we have added to all our sins this evil, to ask for a king.

The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.

And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpeh, and I will pray for you to the LORD.

But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed to the LORD.

And the LORD said to Samuel, Listen to the voice of the people in all that they say to you: for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.
