But it was so, that in the twenty third year of king Jehoash the priests had not repaired the broken places of the house.

If you know not, O you fairest among women, go on your way in the footsteps of the flock, and feed your young goats beside the shepherds’ tents.

He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his place.

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?

But if you will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and my eye shall weep bitterly, and run down with tears, because the LORD’S flock is taken away captive.

Lift up your eyes, and behold those who come from the north: where is the flock that was given you, your beautiful flock?

For from the least of them even to the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even to the priest every one deals falsely.

Therefore will I give their wives to others, and their fields to those who shall inherit them: for every one from the least even to the greatest is given to covetousness; from the prophet even to the priest every one deals falsely.

And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.

And you my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men, and I am your God, says the Lord GOD.

Then said he to me, These are the places of those who boil, where the ministers of the house shall boil the sacrifice of the people.

Their heads judge for reward, and their priests teach for wages, and their prophets divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? no evil can come upon us.

And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall remain: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.

Feed your people with your rod, the flock of your heritage, who dwell alone in the forest, in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.

Woe to the idol shepherd that leaves the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be completely dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.

Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for nothing? neither do you kindle fire on my altar for nothing. I have no pleasure in you, says the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.

Therefore you and your sons with you shall keep your priest’s office for everything of the altar, and within the veil; and you shall serve: I have given your priest’s office to you as a service of gift: and the stranger that comes near shall be put to death.

Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

Then Paul answered, What are you trying to do, weep and break my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

So, as far as I am able, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.

Who goes to warfare at any time at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard, and does not eat of its fruit? Or who feeds a flock, and does not eat of the milk of the flock?

Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy for unjust gain; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

Likewise must the deacons be serious, not double tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for unjust gain;

Whose mouths must be stopped, who corrupt whole households, teaching things which they ought not, for unjust gain’s sake.

For a leader must be blameless, as the steward of God; not domineering, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to unjust gain;

Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify for himself a special people, zealous for good works.

Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey government officials, to be ready for every good work,

But without your approval would I do nothing; that your benefit should not be as if of necessity, but willingly.

Looking diligently lest anyone falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up troubles you, and thereby many are defiled;

And through covetousness shall they with deceitful words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now for a long time has not delayed, and their damnation does not slumber.
