Surely every man walks in a vain show: surely they are anxious in vain: he heaps up riches, and knows not who shall gather them.

Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.

I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, your transgressions, and, as a cloud, your sins: return to me; for I have redeemed you.

For thus says the LORD, You have sold yourselves for nothing; and you shall be redeemed without money.

O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come to you from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things in which there is no profit.

But have walked according to the imagination of their own heart, and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them:

But I said to their children in the wilderness, Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols:

Thus says the LORD; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after which their fathers have walked:

One young bullock, one ram, one lamb of the first year, for a burnt offering:

Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Because, when they knew God, they did not glorify him as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

And again, The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are worthless.

For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

You are bought with a price; do not be the servants of men.

Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you henceforth do not walk as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify for himself a special people, zealous for good works.

Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the Holy Place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

That the testing of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it is tried with fire, may result in praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

For the time of our life that is past is sufficient for us to have done the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in corrupt passions, lusts, excess of wine, reveling, banqueting, and abominable idolatries:

And you know that he appeared to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
