And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.

And the LORD said to him, I have heard your prayer and your request, that you have made before me: I have hallowed this house, which you have built, to put my name there for ever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.

And the king of Babylon struck them down, and slew them at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was taken away out of their land.

And he burnt the house of the LORD, and the king’s house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great man’s house burnt he with fire.

And they burnt the house of God, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the beautiful vessels thereof.

Then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a disgrace among all nations.

You make us a disgrace among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.

My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face has covered me,

I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them.

And you shall leave your name as a curse to my chosen: for the Lord GOD shall slay you, and call his servants by another name:

And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places to which I shall drive them.

Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, says the LORD, and Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will completely destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.

Micah the Morasthite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus says the LORD of hosts; Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house like the high places of a forest.

Then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.

In that you provoke me to wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt, to which you have gone to dwell, that you might cut yourselves off, and that you might be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?

And burned the house of the LORD, and the king’s house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, and all the houses of the great men, he burned with fire:

Jerusalem has greatly sinned; therefore she is removed: all that honored her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness: yea, she sighs, and turns backward.

The LORD has done that which he had devised; he has fulfilled his word that he had commanded in the days of old: he has thrown down, and has not pitied: and he has caused your enemy to rejoice over you, he has lifted up the horn of your adversaries.

Speak to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the excellence of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pities; and your sons and your daughters whom you have left shall fall by the sword.

So it shall be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment to the nations that are round about you, when I shall execute judgments in you in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I the LORD have spoken it.

They shall not dwell in the LORD’S land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean things in Assyria.

Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare your people, O LORD, and give not your heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: why should they say among the people, Where is their God?

Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins, and the mountain of the house like the high places of the forest.

Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

And Jesus said to them, Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

And you shall become an astonishment, a proverb, and a disgrace, among all nations to which the LORD shall lead you.

I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you shall soon completely perish off of the land to which you go over Jordan to possess it; you shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall completely be destroyed.

When you have transgressed the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them; then shall the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and you shall perish quickly off of the good land which he has given to you.

I am sorry that I have set up Saul to be king: for he has turned back from following me, and has not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried out unto the Lord all night.
