Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, Mark, I pray you, and see how this man seeks mischief: for he sent to me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I did not deny him.

And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that ministered to the king by division, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the property and possessions of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the valiant men, unto Jerusalem.

They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepares deceit.

Who imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war.

He devises mischief upon his bed; he directs himself in a way that is not good; he does not abhor evil.

How long will you imagine mischief against a man? you shall be slain all of you: as a tilting wall shall you be, and as a tottering fence.

Behold, he labors painfully with iniquity, and has conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.

Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.

He that diligently seeks good obtains favor: but he that seeks mischief, it shall come to him.

For their heart studies destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.

Perverseness is in his heart, he devises trouble continually; he sows discord.

And both these kings’ hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper: for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.
