If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what benefit is it to me, if the dead do not rise? Let us eat and drink; for tomorrow we die.

For you said, What advantage will it be to you? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?

Truly I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence.

For what is a man profited, if he gains the whole world, and loses himself, or is cast away?

And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.

But bid them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that is coming in Jerusalem: but I will return again to you, if God wills. And he sailed from Ephesus.

And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper regions came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,

But if our unrighteousness commends the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who takes vengeance? (I speak as a man)

I speak according to the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as you have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity leading to iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness leading to holiness.

But I will remain at Ephesus until Pentecost.

Brethren, I speak according to the manner of men; Though it is only a man’s covenant, yet if it is confirmed, no man cancels it, or adds to it.

But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they do not understand; and shall completely perish in their own corruption;

But these speak evil of those things which they do not know: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.
