All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful: all things are lawful for me, but not all things build up.
But if your brother is grieved with your food, now you are not walking in love. Do not destroy him with your food, for whom Christ died.
Even so you, to the extent that you are zealous for spiritual gifts, seek to excel in edifying the church.
For you truly give thanks well, but the other is not edified.
How is it then, brethren? When you come together, every one of you has a hymn, a teaching, a tongue, a revelation, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for edifying.
All things are lawful to me, but all things are not helpful: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
Now concerning things offered to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.
But be careful so that this liberty of yours does not by any means become a stumbling block to those who are weak.
Again, do you think that we excuse ourselves to you? We speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying.
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace to the hearers.
Therefore comfort one another, and edify one another, even as also you do.
Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which lead to questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
