And Joab answered, The LORD make his people a hundred times so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord’s servants? why then does my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?

Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his sight.

Nevertheless the king’s word prevailed against Joab. Therefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.

The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children.

When you take the sum of the children of Israel after their number, then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul unto the LORD, when you number them; that there be no plague among them, when you number them.

And Moses said to Aaron, What did this people do to you, that you have brought so great a sin upon them?

In the multitude of people is the king’s honor: but in the lack of people is the destruction of the prince.

You have increased the nation, O LORD, you have increased the nation: you are glorified: you had removed it far unto all the ends of the earth.

Your children also would have been like the sand, and the offspring of your body like the pebbles thereof; his name would not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.

(The LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more than you are, and bless you, as he has promised you!)

And they came to the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, to the land of Gilead, and they spoke with them, saying,

Nay, my sons; for it is no good report that I hear: you make the LORD’S people to transgress.
