To execute vengeance on the nations And punishments on the peoples,

Why do the nations rage And the peoples meditate on a vain thing?

You destroy those who speak falsehood; Yahweh abhors the man of bloodshed and deceit.

¶If a man does not repent, He will sharpen His sword; He has bent His bow and prepared it.

He also drove out the nations before them And apportioned them for an inheritance by measurement, And made the tribes of Israel dwell in their tents.

Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?” Let it be known among the nations before our eyes: Vengeance for the blood of Your slaves which has been poured out.

The remembrance of the righteous is blessed, But the name of the wicked will rot.

The light of the righteous is glad, But the lamp of the wicked goes out.

‘Then I will set My throne in Elam And cause king and princes from there to perish,’ Declares Yahweh.

O Lord, You have pleaded my soul’s cause; You have redeemed my life.

And you will tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day which I am preparing,” says Yahweh of hosts.

Let Me alone, that I may destroy them and blot out their name from under heaven; and I will make of you a nation mightier and more numerous than they.’

And from His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the wrath of the rage of God, the Almighty.

Then David heard that Nabal was dead, so he said, “Blessed be Yahweh, who has pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal and has kept back His servant from evil. Yahweh has also returned the evil of Nabal on his own head.” Then David sent a proposal to Abigail, to take her as his wife.

Then Saul said to his armor bearer, “Draw your sword and pierce me through with it, lest these uncircumcised come and pierce me through and abuse me.” But his armor bearer was not willing, for he was greatly afraid. So Saul took his sword and fell on it.
