¶Arise, O Yahweh, in Your anger; Lift up Yourself against the fury of my adversaries, And arouse Yourself for me; You have appointed judgment.

Then Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel.” For Yahweh had ordained to thwart the good counsel of Ahithophel, so that Yahweh might bring calamity on Absalom.

¶Yahweh performs righteous deeds And judgments for all who are oppressed.

“Because of the devastation of the afflicted, because of the groaning of the needy, Now I will arise,” says Yahweh; “I will set him in the safety for which he longs.”

¶Though I walk in the midst of distress, You will revive me; You will stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, And Your right hand will save me.

For the enemy has pursued my soul; He has crushed my life to the ground; He has made me inhabit dark places, like those who have long been dead.

¶Arise, O Yahweh; save me, O my God! For You have struck all my enemies on the cheek; You have shattered the teeth of the wicked.

Contend, O Yahweh, with those who contend with me; Fight against those who fight against me.

Stir up Yourself, and awake to my justice And to my cause, my God and my Lord.

Arouse Yourself, why do You sleep, O Lord? Awake, do not reject us forever.

Rise up, be our help, And redeem us for the sake of Your lovingkindness.

You, O Yahweh God of hosts, the God of Israel, Awake to punish all the nations; Do not be gracious to any who are treacherous in iniquity. Selah.

Like a dream when one awakes, O Lord, when aroused, You will despise their form.

Lift up Your steps toward the perpetual ruins; The enemy has damaged everything within the sanctuary.

¶Then the Lord awoke as if from sleep, As if He were a warrior overcome by wine.

¶Yahweh takes His stand to contend, And stands to judge the peoples.

“Now I will be on high,” says Yahweh, “Now I will be lifted up, now I will be lifted up.

But now, O Yahweh our God, save us from his hand that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are Yahweh, You alone.”

¶Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of Yahweh; Awake as in the days of old, the generations of long ago. Was it not You who chopped Rahab in pieces, Who pierced the dragon?
