“My eye has also grown dim because of grief, And all my members are as a shadow.

So am I apportioned months of worthlessness, And nights of trouble are appointed me.

¶When I kept silent about my sin, my bones wasted away Through my groaning all day long.

My heart throbs, my strength forsakes me; And the light of my eyes, even that has gone from me.

Those who hate me without cause are more than the hairs of my head; Those who would destroy me are powerful, being wrongfully my enemies; What I did not steal, I then have to restore.

My eye has wasted away because of affliction; I have called upon You every day, O Yahweh; I have spread out my hands to You.

‘You said, “Ah, woe is me! For Yahweh has added sorrow to my pain; I am weary with my sighing and have found no rest.” ’

Because of this our heart is faint; Because of these things our eyes are dim;
