Who think up evil things in their hearts; They continually stir up wars.

The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers take counsel together Against Yahweh and against His Anointed, saying,

Those who search for my life lay snares for me; And those who seek to do me evil have threatened destruction, And they meditate on deception all day long.

They attack, they lurk, They watch my heels, As they have hoped to take my life.

Those who hate me without cause are more than the hairs of my head; Those who would destroy me are powerful, being wrongfully my enemies; What I did not steal, I then have to restore.

The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, But the mouth of the upright will deliver them.

¶Do not lie in wait, O wicked man, against the abode of the righteous; Do not destroy his resting place;

The holy one has perished from the land, And there is no upright person among men. All of them lie in wait for bloodshed; Each of them hunts the other with a net.

But this happened to fulfill the word that is written in their Law, ‘They hated Me without cause.’

So do not be persuaded by them, for more than forty of them—who have bound themselves under a curse not to eat or drink until they slay him—are lying in wait for him and now they are ready and waiting for the promise from you.”

Now, my father, see! Indeed, see the edge of your robe in my hand! For in that I cut off the edge of your robe and did not kill you, know and see that there is no evil or transgression in my hand, and I have not sinned against you, though you are lying in wait for my life to take it.

And he said to David, “You are more righteous than I; for you have dealt well with me, while I have dealt evil with you.

He also said, “Why then is my lord pursuing his servant? For what have I done? Or what evil is in my hand?
