For Yahweh saw the affliction of Israel, which was very bitter; for there was neither bond nor free, nor was there any helper for Israel.

Why do You stand afar off, O Yahweh? Why do You hide Yourself in times of distress?

¶You have seen it, O Yahweh, do not keep silent; O Lord, do not be far from me.

Do not forsake me, O Yahweh; O my God, do not be far from me!

Oh draw near to my soul and redeem it; Ransom me because of my enemies!

¶O God, do not be far from me; O my God, hasten to my help!

By You I have been sustained from my birth; You are He who took me from my mother’s womb; My praise is continually of You.

¶For he will deliver the needy when he cries for help, The afflicted also, and him who has no helper.

“I looked, and there was no one to help, And I was astonished, and there was no one to uphold; So My own arm brought salvation to Me, And My wrath upheld Me.

But all this has taken place in order that the Scriptures of the prophets would be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left Him and fled.

And again he denied it with an oath, “I do not know the man.”

Then he began to curse and swear, “I do not know the man!” And immediately a rooster crowed.

Behold, an hour is coming, and has already come, for you to be scattered, each to his own home, and to leave Me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.

“For Yahweh will render justice to His people, And will have compassion on His slaves, When He sees that their strength is gone, And there is none remaining, bond or free.

He, in the days of His flesh, offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence.
